No,No

No it's not at the Army and Navy base silly, it is at the Army and Navy airforce club down behind quality greens and pizza hut. :) It is an okay hall for looks, but we will definitly be spicing that up a bit! Yes, the catering is automatically booked when you book the hall, if you want them.... it is through the womens auxillary. We will be doing an evening ceremony(haven't decided what time yet) maybe 5-5:30 so there is tons of time for pictures afterwards and then going back for drinks, speeches first dance and having a snack (coldcuts ect.) buffet. It will be really cool!
I have a funky idea for the invites that I am going to fiddle with on the computer... kinda like the style of Keira and matts but bigger and different. So I will be playing with that for the next while...prob until after you get back Lindsay and then see how it goes. I know it should work, but it is going to be frustrating until I figure out how to print in the right spots on the paper and then take it out, flip it and print the rest where I want it... patience will be needed I can tell you that. But hey, that is the kinda stuff I like doing. :) I may need some stuff from staples still though.... do you get a discount on everything there?

Sounds Great!!!

Thats soooo great guys. Can't wait to see it. I remember when I was part of the Vernon Youth council we put on an event up there once. It was awesome. Do they do the catering as well? Have u picked out a menu yet. I feel awful not being there to help out. I feel like I am missing out on so much. I hope we can get a lot done this summer. We have 4 months and lots to do. Cant wait. For the invitaions I can get a discount at Staples if thats where u want to do them. They also sell pre packaged ones that u write on or put through your own printer. They are quite nice as well. Can't wait to hear more about this Hall, the price is incredible, and also see this park. Well let me know if I can do anything from this end, and I will be home soon. Take care and talk to u soon.

We booked a Hall today!!!!

Wow, thanks for the help Lindsay! Didn't expect you to be doing all that you did from way over there though... thanks. We were actually looking at that Grizzly Den.... it looks awesome....my only concern was though if there was enough room, cause we want dance floor too.

Anyways... we had a call back from the Army and Navy Airforce club today and they said they were open that day for bookings....THEN when we asked them what all was included and how much it was, I almost fell off my chair. It is only $240 for the whole day and they try to leave the night prior open too, to decorate... (if they can, that's great) but iff not, no big deal because we have the whole day to decorate seeing we wont need to get ready till that afternoon... BUT the best thing is that it will save us sooo much money because everything you can think of is included...table cloths, napkins, placemats, glasses, dishes, catering is automatically booked if you want it (for an extra cost of course), microphone, tables, chairs,......it goes on. Awesome!! So I took Bryce to see it today and we booked it and put our security deposit down.

Anyways... can't wait. So glad that we have someplace booked and out of the way now though... cause now we can just deal with the small stuff.

Wedding Venues

Hey Guys,

Can't wait till I am there and can help out and look at some of these beautiful places with you. The two parks look beautiful, that last one u looked at with the white arc thing, (not sure what it is called) looks amazing and having pics done with a lilly pond would be beautiful. Well I have done a bit of research on my own, hope u don't mind. First of all the church hall I was talking about is $500.00 for the hall rental, or if you are using the caterers it is about $18.00 a plate. Max I think is 100 people. Their menu is quite good from what I remember, we can have a look this summer when I get back if u guys want. Secondly I looked at paddlewheel hall, its a pretty nice place, had our dry grad there, and it is $400.00 a day. The website is www.okanaganlanding.com/hallrental.html The next place is the coldstream womens Institute 7509 Kidston, 545-9556 I think is the number, not sure what it looks like but I think it would be cheap to rent. My friend from high school got married up at this B&B on the mountain, its called the Grizzly Den. The wedding was outside, amazing view and then the reception was inside in the hall. The pictures look beautiful. Then she and her husband stayed there for a few nights. I emailed them to get prices but their email doesnt work. The website is www.thegrizzlyden.com if u are interested there is a phone # to call as well. I was going to do it but I am running out of minutes on my calling card. The other place is Castle on the Mountain. Its a really pretty B&B halfway up the star, I emailed them to find out if they did weddings and prices but haven't heard back yet. Will let you know when I find out. Their address is www.castleonthemountain.com the view is beautiful as well. I know for my friends wedding at the Grizzly Den, they were there for fri nite, the wedding day on sat, and I think the bride and groom got a couple extra nights as well. She said is was amazing, and the food was really good too. Also it was easy b/c it was all at one place, no driving and they could keep all the dresses etc. there as well. I think they were able to decorate early too. Anyways, I think that is about it for now, hope it helps, and I will be home soon to help out. Take care, miss u tons and talk to u soon.

Kaloya Park

Hey guy's. Found this park in oyama and it looks reall nice on the pictures... they have an arbour for weddings....which saves us from making or renting one... and they do a lot of weddings there. I will prob go look at it tomorrow or tues. I am still going to go re'look at kopje if this place is just okay. But I think this place will work. Then there is also the community centre in Winfield and a hall there too...so that would be nice and close. I'll keep you updated.

Kopje park

Here is a quick glimpse of the park where Keira and matt got married...
After going to the below link, go to the left menu and click on "pick a park by area" it is #11 on the map.
www.regionaldistrict.com/departments/parks/regional/
reg_parks_bertramcreek.aspx

Here is the spot we looked at today....

It is out in a newly being developed area at the end of Tronson Rd. (OK Landing).. It is really nice, open lawn with some small trees, a tiny tiny cute little church the size of a childs playhouse, and then there is the clubhouse there for the reception. There is also beach access down the road where there is a dock and good area for pictures. The place is really nice, but we are scared to know what the cost is going to be... we will have to go sit down with the guy to get a better estimate... bundle price. The dining area is quite small but the tables can be moved onto the patio to make room for a dance floor.

Here is the web page with photos... http://www.deerparklodge.ca
We have a feeling it is going to cost too much.

Oh, the place that Keira and Matt got married is definitly an awesome option... only $75 and taxes.. for like 3 hours. I want to try and get a hold of the lady to see if we can do it on the other side of where Keira and Matt had there wedding.

I love this idea

A wedding blog is perfect. We now have somewhere to put all of our ideas, suggestions and plans. Its great. Can't wait to start helping you plan Ang, and go dress shopping. YEAH!!!! It will be so much easier doing it while I am there than long distance. It will be so exciting, I can hardly wait. I will be back in vernon soon, less than two months. Well talk to u all later,

Lindsay

Wedding Bells will be heard in summer of 2007!!!

Hey guy's, want to welcome you to the official wedding party blog. This blog will become very important as our wedding plans begin to grow wings and take off.

So far, it will only be granted access to those who are in the wedding party but as the date gets closer, we may have more people join in that will also be playing an important part in the planning process. Matt and Keira had a wedding party blog and it proved very important and helpful in keeping everyone informed and up to date on things that were happening. I am so excited!!! oh, not all of the wedding party has been notified as of yet, so don't worry... there will be more people joining in the near future.

Update on where we are in the planning scheme:
~ We have found a couple ceremony places that we are interested in... one being way more $ than we wanted to pay and the other being a good option but we don't know if we are sold on it or not. I may try to look at another place in Winfield on the lake, and then there is the option of trying to get a hold of the lady for the place where Keira and Matt got married, to see if we can do it on a different part of that property.
~ We were looking at Okanagan College in Vernon for the reception area, but they are in the process of switching over catering companies and because we have decided to not go with a caterer, and do it ourselves instead (more detail later) they can't gaurantee us a booking.
~ I am still waiting to hear from Lindsay and get the specs on the Church that she mentioned for a reception area.

Other than that, just need to hopefully get the parents together at Easter and go over the budget.
Lindsay....hurry up and get back here!! miss ya.
